Tibetan Quiz Contest
One of the important literary programs of Tibetan Department is holding of Tibetan Quiz. This was organized in place of patriotic song or rhetoric competition among the classes used to be held in the past. The introduction of Tibetan quiz this year is very special in its own kind and the participants were selected from students of class VII through XII. The quiz masters have asked questions from the life history of our spiritual leader His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, as a tribute being paid to His Holiness for his life long struggle for the genuine cause of Tibet and Tibetans since his coming into exile. Following are the different rounds of quizzes; General round, Visual round, Multiple choice round and Rapid Fire round and there were different quiz masters for each round. Mr. Lobsang Ngawang took the General round & multiple choice rounds, Mr. Nyima Dhondup asked questions based on Visual round, and Mr. Sonam Topgyal post questions from the Rapid Fire round. The year 2016 Tibetan quiz winning team is students of class X. The winners were honored with prizes and consolation prizes to the participating teams by the senior section headmaster Mr. Molam.
The Sixth Inter-School Dialectics Meet
The 6th Inter-school (Dialectics Meet) Riglam Duezom was organized here in Tibetan Children’s Village Gopalpur from October 3 to October 8, 2016. There were seven participating schools, six schools from Himachal state and one school from Uttarkhand State. The student representatives of respective schools were accompanied by their Religious Instructors and TCV Gopalpur made their comfortable stay with provision of a home to each school. The opening ceremony for the 6th inter-school dialectics meet was graced by Mr. Nawang Dhargyal, the Secretary of the Department of Education from the Central Tibetan Administration. Students and staff members with participating teams offered special prayer to the God of Intelligence “Manju Shree” followed by Gyalwai Shabden and all are offered Drasil and Tibetan Tea. The religious instructor of TCV School Gopalpur Rev. Lobsang Khedup made introductory speech in connection with the 6th inter-school dialectics meet and the reasons behind holding such mega event in the school. Thereafter, first three participating teams have done their presentation of Dialectics in presence of the chief guest and others. The guest of honor in his speech emphasized that we need to keep alive our heritage and learning through Riglam is one of the best ways of learning and learners are convinced when they learn through reasoning. Everyone is urged to adopt this kind of learning in other fields of study and should not get confined only to Tibetan, Math and Science subjects. The chief guest promised that more kind of this program and workshop will be organized in the future and the matter will be raised in the Ministry of Education as suggestion put forward by Rev. Lobsang Khedup for want of more workshops and spread teaching Riglam in other areas of study as well. The senior section headmaster Mr. Molam gave the vote of thanks speech.

18th Inter-House Athletics Meet - 2016.
The 18th Annual Sports Day of the School was held on October 1. It was one of the most important events of the school calendar and the occasion was graced by the honorable chief guest Shri Brij Bihari Butail, the speaker of Legislative Assembly of Himachal Pradesh. The guest of honor in his speech said that he was impressed by the Tibetans for having well preserved their cultural heritage in the exile community. He further urged students to pay attention to one’s own culture, language and tradition because these would give you recognition and your identity. You are identified and recognized by your language, culture and heritage and these are taught to the students in your school. The upcoming younger Tibetan generation is held responsible for the preservation of culture, language and tradition in years ahead. Under the guidance of housemasters and physical education teachers, the students were trained for over a month in various athletics disciplines. Students of XI grade were assigned the responsibility of ground preparation and track marking and a number of other volunteer students and staff members made their contribution in making this event a grand success. Through this event, many students got opportunity to display their skills and others got to improve their athletics skills. For them, it was an important platform for learning how to stage big events. After all, the entire event proved to be a joyful learning experience. The school Management Committee resolved to provide a special dish to the students and other distinguished guests for the occasion. Gen. Thupten Dorjee la, the President of the TCV Schools had been the special guest on the 18th Inter-house Athletics meet and the winning individuals and houses were given away prizes by the President of Tibetan Children’s Village Schools. The house-wise standing is as follow after the meet; Trisong house got the first position, Nyatri house in second, Triral house in third and Songsten house in fourth position. After the prize distribution, the chairman of the Games & Sports Committee Mr. Molam gave the vote of thanks speech. ..
Social Science Quiz
As per resolution passed in the Arts Department meeting, the members of the Arts department resolved to hold Social Science Quiz as per schedule in the school diary. Of the 6 hostels, each hostel is required to send three representatives, making it the total of 18 participants for the event. In the meeting, it was unanimously decided to form 6 teams with three participants in each team. The social science quizzes were to be held in the following rounds;
1. General round
2. Tibetan History
3. Visual round
4. Rapid Fire round
For each round there is a different quiz master. The General Round was taken up by Gen. Tashi Choden who would put two questions to each team. Questions from Tibetan history were asked by Gen. Tenzin Rinzin, the visual round was taken up by Gen. Kunchok Tsering and the Rapid Fire round was asked by Gen. Kalsang Damdul. The rules to be followed by the participants were made known to them prior to the start of actual contest. It was left to the discretion of quiz masters whether to give full or half marks to the partly answered questions. However, it was made mandatory to pose questions comprising both closed ended and multiple choices. The social science quiz teams were comprised of the following hostels viz. Shishpakma, Green, Yumbu, Potala, Mini, and Yulokoe hostels. Each team is required to give answers within the time bound of 30 seconds and correct answer will fetch 5 marks. There will be no negative marking for incorrect answers. Team’s representative for the specialized round will be given one minute to attempt as many questions as he/she can answer The winning team of social science quiz was Yumbu team of class XI students.

English Spelling Bee Contest
English spelling Bee has been held on September 16 in the school hall at 7 pm. The English spelling contest was organized by the members of English department with an intention of enriching students’ vocabulary and improving their spelling in the language. There were 13 finalists who were selected from the first two rounds of preliminary selection. The first preliminary round was conducted in the respective classes in one of the first periods by concerned English teachers. From the first round, the English department members have selected 50 students who were qualified for the 2nd round. The second round of selection was done in the English language room. The actual spelling bee contest started on the evening of September 16 at 7 pm with an introduction of English Spelling Bee from Mrs. Lhakpa Bhuti followed by the warm up round; thereafter the actual spelling contest was started with two spelling masters; Mrs. Lhakpa Bhiti and Miss. Tenzin Lingzay. The English speller for the year 2016 goes to Miss. Tenzin Tso of XII C. The winner was crowned and received prize from the school principal.
